Executive Coaching

Coaching built on a psychology-based approach — not just a good conversation.

WHAT MAKES OUR COACHING DIFFERENT

We coach the way a trainer trains — in the room, in the moment.

Cadence coaches bring a clinical lens to leadership work, drawing on training in cognitive-behavioral and addiction therapy models. That background shapes how we work: we don't just ask good questions, we take positions. We read the room, challenge assumptions, and push leaders toward change rather than waiting for them to find it on their own.

Active, not advisory

Think of it the way you'd think about a personal trainer rather than a workout buddy. A trainer notices what you're avoiding, adjusts the program, and holds you to a standard you wouldn't hold yourself to alone. That's the model here — active, not passive.

A real psychology lineage

Cadence has clients it has worked with for ten years and longer. That's not a boast; it's evidence. A coaching relationship that lasts a decade isn't a vendor contract renewed out of inertia — it's a partnership that keeps getting renewed because it keeps producing results.

HOW WE WORK WITH YOU

One approach. Two entry points — the leader, or the team around them.

Individual coaching

One leader, one engagement, built around real objectives.

Individual coaching starts with a clear picture of what success looks like, set at the outset and reviewed at the end — not left to drift. The work runs on two tracks at once, how a leader thinks and what a leader does, because neither works well alone. And it carries an organizational lens: a leader doesn’t change in a vacuum, so we coach with the people around them in mind, alongside the individual in front of us.

Team & Group coaching

The same rigor, applied across a team.

Some of the largest gaps aren't in one leader — they're in how a leadership team operates together: accountability, communication, the unspoken friction that slows everything down. Team coaching applies the same active, structured approach at the group level, with objectives the whole team is accountable for, not just the individuals in the room.

HOW it works

The arc of a coaching engagement.

  • 1
    Intake
We start by understanding the leader, the role, and what's actually at stake — not a sales conversation, but the real beginning of the work.
  • 2
    Alignment & Goals
Success gets defined here, in specific terms, so both sides know what we're working toward and how we'll know when we've gotten there.
  • 3
    Assessment
Often built around a 360 — a clear view of how a leader is actually experienced by the people around them, not just self-reported strengths and gaps.
  • 4
    Active Coaching
The core of the engagement: a coach who pushes, challenges, and works alongside a leader on both mindset and skills — closer to a personal trainer than a conversation partner.
  • 5
    Check-Ins
Regular, structured check-ins that keep progress honest — ongoing accountability, not a single review at the end.
  • 6
    Completion
A defined endpoint, not an indefinite relationship. We close the engagement against the goals set at intake, and assess honestly what changed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What you can expect from our coaching

What is executive coaching, exactly?

It's a one-on-one partnership focused on your goals — not generic advice. A coach helps you see your own patterns more clearly, work through real decisions as they come up, and build the specific skills that will move you forward.

Who is coaching for?

Anyone stepping into more responsibility, navigating a tough transition, or trying to lead more effectively. We coach professionals that are first-time managers to seasoned executives. A lot of our work is with high-potential leaders being positioned for their next role, and with senior leaders who want a sounding board they can't get anywhere else in the organization.

What does a typical engagement look like?

Most engagements run six to twelve months, with 60-minute sessions every two weeks. We start by getting clear on what success looks like — often informed by a 360 assessment — then build a working rhythm around your real priorities. It's not a fixed curriculum; the focus shifts as your needs do.

Is coaching confidential?

Yes. What you discuss with your coach stays between you and your coach. If your organization is sponsoring the coaching, we'll agree upfront on what (if anything) gets shared with a manager or HR. This is usually just high-level themes or progress, never session details.

How do you match me with a coach?

We meet with you to better understand your goals, your industry, and your working style. We'll make recommendations on who would be the best partner for you. Fit matters more than credentials — you should feel like you can be direct with this person, so we build in time upfront to make sure the match is right before committing.

Leading with Purpose + Team 360 Assessments

The clearest view of your team, and a plan to move it forward.

A Team 360 Assessment and our Leading with Purpose workshop solve two different problems — and together, they solve both at once. The Team 360 surfaces what's actually happening across a team: the patterns, blind spots, and unspoken friction that don't always show up in day-to-day conversation. Leading with Purpose takes that picture and turns it into something the team can act on together — a working alliance, a shared mission, and a strategy built by the people who have to carry it out. It's the combination we recommend most: an honest starting point, and a clear direction from it.

“What makes Cadence Leadership coaching different is that our approach is never one-size-fits-all. Being a Cadence coach is about knowing when to step back and help clients find their own answers, and when to step in with direct feedback. In coaching sessions, we provide practical tools and perspectives grounded in real leadership experience. That balance helps leaders build greater self-awareness, communicate more effectively, and create stronger, more capable teams.”

Michelle Bevan, Senior Associate

“What I believe sets Cadence Coaching apart is the depth of the partnership we create with our clients. We focus on the whole person, not just leadership challenge in front of us. We take the time to understand the person, the team, the culture and the business context, and then tailor our approach to what will create the greatest impact. We combine thoughtful challenge with genuine support and practical tools to help leaders gain clarity, build confidence and become more intentional in how they lead.  Our coaches bring a variety of experiences and perspectives, but we share a commitment to helping people become more effective, confident, and intentional leaders. That impact extends beyond the individual to their teams, their organizations and their careers.”

Bonnie Henault, Senior Coaching Consultant

As a senior leader in a very demanding environment, I cannot over-emphasize the tremendous impact Cadence’s personalized approach to leadership and communication development has had on me. I have grown and expanded in many ways as a leader and communicator, which has allowed me to be much more effective with my management team and broader organization. The measurable growth I have experienced by working with Cadence over the past two years has been career-changing! So much so that I now exclusively use their team to work with my management team and broader organization consistently, and the results are equally as powerful.
